I ordered one piece crimp connectors for the CAT6 in my home via (not so) SmartDigital. I get the package today and and I discover MODULAR connectors (two pieces, wires sticking out all over the place) were sent to me. No explanation, nothing. Just the wrong product.
NO WHERE in the description of the product does it state that these are the two piece type of connectors; so buyer beware on this one. If you're old school and like a nice one piece connector these aren't it, otherwise you get to wrestle with these stupid two piece connectors and hope it all stays in place. As if this isn't a pain as it is, now I have to wonder if another piece of the puzzle is correct before I crimp. What a PITA!!
After sucking it up and making one cable with the connectors it's still a PITA. Quality is also low on the clip. When I plugged it in there wasn't the usual good solid 'click!' of a normal connector, I had to pull it out and plug it in again just to make sure it was in.
I'll be contacting the seller to see what they have to say. Either way, I won't be getting these or anything else from this seller.
Update 2.9.2011:
Seller contacted me back within 24 hours and explained that the connectors can be used either way, I disagree as the grooves to guide the wires into the pin channels are missing; you MUST use the wire guides. There are also no instructions on how to use the new type of connector (yeah, yeah - I searched and found it). The rep (Josh) who contacted me was OK (via email) and apologized but offered no solution to a single connector. Oh well. Next time I see the vendor pop up as the seller I simply move on.
I did figure out how to use the connectors and my 1's and 0's are traveling over it as I type this. Still not pleased. The product description needs to be updated/corrected.
