Check your appliance Voltage Rating - Dual Voltage or Not ? Apr 06, 2007
By Voltage Guy
"Voltage Guy"
A grounded adapter or non grounded adapter only changes the pin configuration to fit inside another country's electrical outlet. An adapter does not change the voltage. You need to check your appliance's voltage to see if it is dual voltage 110 - 240 volts. If so, all you need is an adapter and they do the job fine. If the appliance rating is only for 120 volts and it is not dual voltage, then you will need to buy a converter or transformer to go with the adapter. This converter ( or transformer) will then lower the incoming voltage down from 240 volts ( in Europe, Africa and most of Asia ) to 120 volts. Remember - adapters only adapt the pins, they do not change the voltage.
Voltage Converter - 0 to 50 Watt
Voltage Converter - 50 to 1600 Watt
Voltage Converter - 50 to 2000 Watt
Transformer - 85 Watt Non Grounded Light Duty
Voltage Converter - Combo (0 to 50) & (50 to1600) Watt
Voltage Surge Protector - 220 Volt
Transformer - 200 Watt Non Grounded Heavy Duty

product not as pictured, but works well Apr 30, 2007

The product name is a little off. It should be USA to some parts of Europe. The product description lists the countries in which the adapter works. I've ordered quite a few of these in the past year. They're pretty good in terms of quality. I've used these in Austria, Germany, Hungary, and France. If you plan on traveling to other countries in Europe such as the UK or Italy, you'll need additional different adapters. I've ordered the Grounded Adapter for Italy from this same company. It is equally good in terms of quality.

Good adaptor for Europe and China Dec 27, 2006
By R. Goltsch I have personally used this adaptor in Germany, Poland, and China. It worked well for me. As it is simply an adaptor, what more is there to say other than it worked?

Grounded Adapter for France. May 09, 2007
By K. Saffell We eventually found these type of adapters in the larger supermarkets / Hardware stores (like a superwalmart)in France but they are not common. The problem most of the people had with the French plugs is the use of 3 prong grounded electrical cords. Most of the adapters found locally only converted 2 prong US to 2 prong French and the french adapters are of a type that you could not put a 3 prong plug into them. These plugs were very helpful and I had to loan them to others that had the same problem.

EU standard only Mar 26, 2007
By C. Frigo I purchased this adapter for a recent business trip to the U.K. Once I arrived at the first hotel in England I realized that the adapter was not going to work. I believe that it is configured to simply adapt the U.S. plug to a European Union standard (which I didn't find in England and may not be everywhere in the rest of Europe.)
Instead of this, I suggest purchasing the Sharper Image Worldwide Adapter with USB Charger. It has plug adapters for many countries including the EU prongs of this product. It is also capable of charging your USB devices such as cell phones.
