 No HD with this cable; Do not buy for Home Theater Feb 06, 2011

Cable quality appears to be very nice. Very thick shielding. However, with Win7 at least, you will not be able to get native resolution for your TV through this cable (if you have a 1080p HD TV). I bought this because I wanted to put the computer farther than 6 ft away (length of VGA cable I had). When I hooked this up, the resolution dropped from 1920x1080, to 1024x768, and windows would not allow 1080p resolution. Go back to the cheap 6 ft VGA, works no problem. Apparently, some VGA cables don't support a certain pin that helps the computer identify the monitor, so windows locks any monitor you hook up with this to "generic PnP monitor". I've tried 2 long VGA cables so far, same results with both. I wish there were a way to identify up front which VGA cables support 1080p (identify monitor type), and which don't.

Ferrite on both ends, as pictured, super high quality feel, replaced a HDMI connection to my monitor due to unrelated issues and the picture with this SVGA cable is equivalent, very pleased!!

I purchased this cable because I was setting up a home theater with a VGA mini-projector. The cable is heavy, but the length was right for my needs,and it works fine.

I have two computers with three monitors each, and two different brands of monitor (Acer and Hanns-G). Each computer is using two PCI video cards, all Nvidia but two different models. I had a display problem with both brands of monitors at higher resolutions (trying to display 1600 x 900) that I finally traced to other brand-new cables. This one is a quality cable that solved my display problems when installed, and was less expensive than the others. If you want higher resolution properly displayed (higher than about 1024 x 768) go with this. I bought three so far and they are perfect.
