4Need a TV to use without a TV  Feb 15, 2010
We purchased this cable to use a Wii with an LCD monitor (without a TV). The cable does indeed do that, and does it well, but there were two caveats.
1. You need a television to change the setting to use the monitor. So for about two minutes when you first start up, a television is required. No a problem for most households, but we don't have one!
2. It's a challenging juggle when you first set up to have the Wii, the television, and the monitor all close enough together and at the right height to be connected all the the same time for the first couple of minutes.

It was worth it in the end, and it works just as advertised.

1Absolutely worthless (Wii, on a ASUS VH222H monitor)  Feb 12, 2010
I'm a competitive fighting game player, and I own a ASUS VH222H monitor because it has an HDMI input and very little lag, making it perfect to carry around with my PS3 as I go to tournaments. I needed something for the Wii since Tatsunoko vs Capcom (TvC) came out, and I gave this a shot, despite some very mixed reviews.

Hooking it up was simple enough. I had to mess around with my monitor's settings to get the picture just right, because it was cut off by about half a character's length in TvC if they were in the corner. The screen would turn black and the audio would cut out for about 2-3 seconds at a time, but I thought it was because I was fiddling with my monitor's settings.

Unfortunately, it didn't stop. I tried the Wii at both 4:3 and 16:9, and tried various settings on my monitor. The screen would just randomly turn off for 2-3 seconds at a time, which was VERY annoying when I was trying to do a combo.

I tried it for an hour, and was so frustrated that I repackaged the cable and submitted a refund request. I'll be searching for a powered RGB to VGA unit now. They may be more expensive, but it seems you really do get what you paid for.

1Doesn't Work with some monitors - too dark.....  Feb 01, 2010
I had a similiar cable for my XBOX 360 and it worked great when hooking it up to my PC monitor. Finally my 3rd XBOX 360 got the ring of death so I bought a PS3 along with this cable so i could have the same setup as my 360. Well every game I try comes through really dark, and I tried to change every setting I could think of. I think it my have to do with my newer PC monitor. It's a HD 22" Dell monitor. I did read in some reviews of users complaining of this but I figured I'd take the chance - sorry I did. It was only [...] bucks so..... But still ridiculous that Sony doesn't make one for their console.

1Waste of money!  Jan 21, 2010
I bought this cord with the hopes of being able to use my PS3 with my 1080i monitor. But there are several games that output only in 720p(or other video output modes), and these games don't work on my monitor while using this cord. This cord would be ideal for someone that has a tv or monitor that outputs in several modes, but a total waste for those who don't. Before you buy: check your tv/monitor to make sure it outputs in several different modes before buying this cord.

4Read the Directions`  Dec 22, 2009
I got this and tried to hook it up to an NEC computer mointor when I had a bunch of friends over. It didn't work. After spending about 20 minutes reading over the instructions, I got it to work. If you ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT get this to work, please try what I did:

I went out to the little TV in the living room and plugged in the GREEN cable to the yellow video port on the back. Turned on the Wii and went to the resolution settings. Switch to EDTV (the top selection). Click on CONFIRM. The TV should split into two video screens.

Next, bring the Wii to your computer monitor. First, turn on the Wii, THEN turn on the monitor. You should get your signal.

The contrast is a little bland and the colors aren't amazing, but worth the price if you want to avoid buying an HDTV, or don't own a TV like me.
