5great inexpensive cables  Oct 25, 2010 By Joel_Netadmin
Great network cable , even though only 4 wires.
A normal network cable contains 8 wires, but only 4 of which are being used.

The extra wires only make a difference if it is a long cable run 100 feet or more.
At our company they are used to connect pcs to the network wall jacks transmitting at 100 mbps speeds.

We also put some of these with each laptop when traveling, as they take up very little space.

The cable costs very little, but the shipping price based upon the number of these cables you purchase.
I still found it a difficult price to beat, even with the shipping cost added to the purchase.

these cables were ok, but i did test the speed difference and it did appear that they were moderately slower on down and up lead that an expensive cable from bestbuy, not sure why that would be, but i did see a lot of complaints about the number of wires, which are in fact no twisted pairs. also they all completely stopped working on me at or around the 6 month time period of use, but because they were so cheap i had bought a ton, and just keep switching them out.

1Don't bother.  Oct 24, 2010 By Tom
This does not seem to be an actual Ethernet cable at all. I included a few on a recent order so that I would have a few spare patch cables around. However, they did not work when they arrived. On inspection I found that only three wires were connected through the cable and they would not function as an Ethernet patch cable. I suspect that it was actually originally manufactured as an old style quick connect RS-232 cable which could be mistaken as an Ethernet cable due to the similar connectors. Such a cable is probably not useful for any modern application.

Also note that this product has a very low price, but has high shipping and handling charges. This seems odd for such a small light weight and easily shipped item. But this may be no accident, because when you discover the item does not work you will have no way to return the item under their terms and conditions for a refund.
